Intel’s Investment in Oakland Schools Strengthens Science, Engineering Programs

In 2015, Intel Corporation announced a five-year, $5 million investment with Oakland Unified School District to improve computer science and engineering programs at Oakland Tech and McClymonds high schools. Enrollment in computer science classes has seen a 14-times increase two years into the program. The collaboration will affect 2,300 students and graduate 600 in the disciplines. The initiative is multifaceted, with programs for students including work-based learning, mentoring and internships, along with education and awareness for parents, and professional development support for teachers.
