Yes, I agree that 150GB game installations are a PITA (pain in the ass) and bandwidth cap busting 20 - 90GB day one patches are insult to injury but why all the crying now? This has been the norm now for years because no one did anything about it a decade ago. Now all the sudden the game press is saying they are "scared" like this is something new. Responding to recent criticism, Activision had this to say:
Note! In each of the Specs, the HDD references HD space of 175GB. 175GB is the storage space we recommend players keep available in order to download the post-launch content we’ll be bringing to Modern Warfare. At launch, the initial download will be smaller.
