I know many of you guys are not really into stuff like Google or the
Alexa
Toolbar, but I am in the middle of a huge discussion with
people at Alexa and need to prove a point to them. I want ten people
that visit this site semi-regularly to install the Alexa
Toolbar so I can prove a point to Alexa about the way their
stats are taken. Normally site statistics are taken by the amount of
visitors a certain site has ( all the visitors ). We currently
use WebTrends
which gives an accurate view of how many people visited the site. Alexa
can only count the number of people that visit your site that have the
toolbar installed. What happens with that is StevenLynch.Net
ends up being ranked 2,345,940 while Hypothermia
ends up ranked 40,000th even though they are the same site. So after I
get 10 people to install the toolbar, I am going to track the statistics
over one month and WIN my side of this debate!!!! As always, thanks
guys!

Here's one for you... I just got one of those X2VGA
Xbox video adapters and I love it. It connects directly to
the back of the Xbox console and then you imply hook a monitor up to it.
For those of you who do not have HDTV this is a way for you to get super
high resolution gaming for a small fraction of a HDTV.

Here is a picture of the box I designed for small form factor
watercooling. Randy at
Clear-View Technologies did the hard part...you
know...actually making the box based on my drawings. And trust me, my
artistic ability brings only one word to mind...Playskool, so Randy had
his work cut out for him. I will have a full write up on it when I am
done. For now, here are a few pics.

Mike Magee and the crew at The
Inquirer have posted a little article about the
recent RIAA Raffle we did here. The article talked about how Grokster
grabbed mainstream media headlines by offering to pay Briana's RIAA fine
after we had already raised the money....without ever mentioning all the
hard work you guys did. We had a reader forward us an e-mail from Wayne
Rosso, the head of Grokster:
I appreciate your feelings. In point of fact, it wasn’t an offer from Grokster at all. It was from me personally, out of my own pocket. And
believe me when I tell you that I am not a wealthy man and don’t have $2000 just lying around to give to anybody. But I, as you, was completely outraged by this little girl’s plight. And I did not do it for any publicity at all. I can get all the publicity I want just by picking up a telephone. The problem was that Brianna’s phone number is unlisted and the only way I could get in touch with her was to call the
NY Daily News reporter who did know how to reach her. I assumed that her school would be legally required to protect her privacy in every respect. He was kind enough to leave a message for her but I have yet to hear back. Unfortunately he also grabbed the
story. I must admit that it is more embarrassing than flattering. It’s unfortunate that the Hypothermia people were overlooked. However the gratification of doing the right thing should be satisfaction enough. Most importantly, I am inspired that people such as yourself have the same sense of outrage and compassion that I feel about the situation. You, Hypothermia, and everyone like you are to be commended and admired. You are the real
heroes. Thanks for your thoughts and I hope that you keep up the fight.
Wayne
So it would
seem that the NY Daily News was at fault for skewing the facts leading
to the confusion. The truth is, none of you did this for notoriety or fame,
you did it because it was the right thing to do. Right? And at least we
know now that Wayne Russo did not intentionally try to take credit for
the hard work you guys did.
RIAA System
Winner: -Steve
Congrats goes out to Mark
Reyes who is now the envy of
all his fellow overclockers at the Miami Dade Police Department!!! Mark won the RIAA computer system and promises to send in some
pictures of him and his new computer surrounded by the MDPD Computer
Bureau Overclockers!! I want to thank everyone who donated to the cause
because without you guys, none of this stuff is possible. You guys
should be proud of yourselves for what you have done...I know I sure am
proud of you.

It is done, we did it guys! Ms. Deborah Hurd, the principle of school
that young Briana attends, has went above and beyond in helping us get
this money to this girl and her family. I am including a list of all the
names of the people who made this possible to go along with this
donation. As always, you guys are fantastic.
Raffle
Closed: -Steve
Raffle is closed. In what must be world record time we have gathered up
the full amount to take care of young Briana LaHara's RIAA fine. We have
allowed a buffer so the last few stragglers can enter, but 10pm Central
Time is the cut off. We will be contacting the family in the morning
with our check, and have a winner for the computer drawn at the same
time as well. We will have details and an announcement posted here
by noon 9-11-03.
RAFFLE
CLOSED
Raffle:

I am going to auction off a system for that 12 year old girl
who just paid the RIAA $2,000.00. We can easily do this, 400
tickets at $5 each. I'll donate the computer and we'll see if we can't
do something GOOD for the 12yr old honor student, Briana LaHara. If the
RIAA decides not to go through with collecting the money from the
family, then all the better...maybe the family can save the money we
raise for something productive, like college.

Raffle Idea:
-Steve
You know...I am thinking about raffling another computer off, a nice
high end system, maybe 400 tickets at $5 each and donate
the proceeds to that 12 year old girl and her single parent mother
that were sued by the RIAA. Would you guys go for that? A two or three
day auction, maybe a 3GHz System with a Radeon 9700Pro, 512
PC3500...something like that....I'll donate all the stuff personally. Let
me know , could have it set up and ready to roll in a
matter of hours, and we could have the money to the family by Friday and
the winner of the raffle have a kick ass PC by then too.

What does everyone think about a small form factor case for the Killer
Gaming Rig #9? I am wanting to do a super-duper-uber customized small
form factor computer, add water cooling and all to it for the KGR #9. I
think something like my
current custom small cube would be a great way to go about
doing this KGR. Any thoughts?
