It's contest time. . . I have a great hardware combo up for grabs. Them cool MoFo's at iCompz have coughed up a handful of good for you guys. Gotta love em' . This time around the prize is an awesome Abit KG7-RAID coupled with a 1GHz Duron ( Morgan core ), 256mb of PC2700 and a Vantec 6035-D all copper cooler to top things off...yeah baby, get in it to win it!!!!

Well, I had planned on giving away the 2GHz KeyChain tomorrow. . . but, the manufacturer of the faulty power supply as well as the store I bought it from are being assmunch's about the whole deal, so I am having the over-volted parts inspected. No biggy. . . but I'll tell you what, nothing feels worse than to buy something then have it burn up damn near a whole system, and then when you complain you are simply passed off to "the manufacturer". Sometimes I think people forget what my real world profession is, there is no way any company on the planet could get away with that type of customer service. Could you imagine a car dealer getting away with the same thing?? I don't think so....

Massive Suckage  -Steve
Today, while testing the Killer Gaming Rig and having a conversation with my wife in the Hypothermia Underground Bunkers, my wife and I witnessed one of the most HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE sights, ever. After about 15minutes or so of benchmarking and testing smoke started pouring out of the brand new power supply. Not only did it burn the leads all the way to the hard drives, and motherboard...the wires were so hot they burned through the blue rounded cables too...shorting out the hard drive and CDRW while it was at it.

The Radeon 8500, the 1gb of RAMBUS and the Creative Labs Audigy made it through, but the 2GHz P4 bit the dust, the Abit TH7II-RAID is toast, the Hard drive bit it and the CDRW. I won't name the company YET, as they are still in the process of taking care of this situation and replacing my parts. I will hold a contest this coming Tuesday for the WORLDS FIRST 2 GHz P4 KEYCHAIN GIVEAWAY.

Weekend KGR 5 Update  -Steve
The Killer Gaming Rig #5 will be given away in time for Thanksgiving this year, so I thought I would give you some specs on what we have so far rounded up for the the contest. Eventually, I am not going to be able to keep out doing myself.... and we'll have to start giving away Compaq's or something...heh, kidding. But it is getting hard to keep "one upping" myself. Check the specs:

Got some hella sweet contest action coming up again this week, as well as a look at the Killer Gaming Rig #5 baby!! I am also starting up a few more "One a Day for a Week" contests kicking it off with some video cards and some processors to follow that up. I love giving away FREE STUFF.

Tue 10.16.01  -Steve
Everyone loves Asia...and this is one of the reasons why we love her so much around here. Asia let me know that all the winners that bid on her DVD's and 8 x 10's will be getting a little something "extra" with their prized auction item. Check it out. . .

I also included a special issue of 'Oriental Dolls' magazine with each of the auction orders - it's the 10th anniversary issue of the mag, and it's a tribute to their favorite model, ME! :) There's about 8 different layouts of me in there, and I signed every one of the layouts in every one of the mags, plus the front cover and both inside covers! I also gave them all a glossy mini-poster (signed) promo from one of my recent movies.

How's that for being hella cool...

Mon 10.15.01  -Steve
Halloween is right around the corner, so I have been getting the kids ready and planning the Halloween festivities. One thing that is REALLY cool about being an adult on Halloween is shopping for the kids costumes. My daughter ( 13 ) is still undecided, but my 6 yr old son is ready:

.... damn, things sure have progressed since I was a kid. Back in the day...we could rip a bed sheet in half, toss one half over my brother ( instant "Ghost" ) and tear the other half into strips ( instant "Mummy" ) and we were good to go for $2.99...anyone else remember that??

Sat 10.13.01  -Steve
I will have things back on track this coming week, I have interviews with Tom Mustaine from Ritual coming up, we'll catch ourselves up to date with Asia....and get ready for some KGR 5 specs coming up too. It's gonna be AWESOME, the best Killer Gaming Rig ever. So get ready for that as well.

Hypothermia is back in full "Far Beyond Being Cool" mode again... heh...because yesterday...it snowed .

Auction Update:  -Steve
Got everything ready to ship, and all the Asia Orders of too her... so everything will be shipped this weekend for sure. Confirmation e-mail will be sent out soon to let everyone know when it was shipped, their tracking number etc. It was a hell of a lot of work, getting everything together...but definitely worth it. Must........Get........Rest.

Mon 10.10.01 -Steve
I have confirmation from everyone, I have received payment from 90% of all bidders and the last few days have been a flurry of packaging getting ready to mass ship everything tomorrow afternoon. Once again, I am proud to be a part of this fantastic donation effort. It is certainly the best feeling in the world to be able to help the victims of the disaster, and the families that are really in need.

AUCTION RESULTS.... -Steve
HardOCP / Hypothermia auction is over, and after all was said and done...we collected a total of

 $10,161.00

to go to the victims of the WTC Disaster. To see the AUCTION and RESULTS click HERE. To see a list of the fantastic companies that provided support and products on such short notice, CLICK HERE.

I am amazed at the support and unity of the gaming / hardware community, to come together for a great cause like this, from START to FINISH, was less than two weeks and we raised over $10,000.00. Simply amazing. I couldn't have done it without all of you for sure, and for that you should be proud as well.

AUCTION STATUS.... -Steve
Almost everything came in on time...but due to some shipping delays on motherboards, the Auction will be held:

Wednesday Oct. 3rd thru Friday Oct. 5th 2001

The front page of Hypothermia will be replaced with the main auction page. From there you will be able to select the items you wish to bid on. This will be held in the same manner as a SILENT AUCTION (rules will be posted on main auction page ) .  At the end of each day, the "HIGH" bids will be shown next to the auction item so that you will be able to adjust your bid the following day.

Very close now.... -Steve
CPUfx's contribution just came in, a watercooled 1.4GHz AMD, GeForce3 Powered, Enermax Cased bad ass system, right alongside the kick ass contributions from BestBuy's finest, and rounded up by the 5 Hercules GameTheater XP's... wow. I bet you guys are DYING to start bidding.

More.... -Steve
We are getting closer to being able to assemble the PC's at least partially, waiting for everything is the hardest part out of all of this for sure. UGH!!! I tell you what though, I get the most amazing feeling of pride knowing we are all coming together to help. If you look at that donor list, you will see nothing but FANTASTIC people.

More arrivals -Steve
Well as the items keep pouring in, I get closer and closer to having these auctions ready to go...
Corsair's offering of five sticks of 256mb PC2400 DDR arrived as well as the five wireless keyboards / mice / joysticks from Intel. It's easy to see how much effort everyone is putting into this effort.
