Busy, busy, busy!  -Steve
I have been busier than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest. It is almost impossible to stand still long enough to just get a breath before everything catches up with me and I am on the go again.

[H]Console has kept me extremely busy...and I do mean extremely busy. I work on content / review during the day as I work doing news at [H]ard|OCP. I write at night and on the weekends too so I literally have no time left over...whew...who knew video games required so much effort!!! Hah! No worries, any time I start to get depressed, I just think about people that put in 12 hours a day at real jobs, like the nurses and firefighters, and that usually snaps me back to reality. Those people have really hard jobs and they are making a difference in peoples lives. I'm having a blast playing video games for a living.

Most of you know what I look like by the pictures I have posted here over the last 6 years and, the general consensus is that I am scary looking. I am the nicest guy you could possible meet (
if I say so myself) but I have to admit, I do have that "on parole" look down pat.

This has never really bothered me before, I am used to elderly women clutching their purses when I walk by or people mistaking me for a truck driver or pro-wrestler instead of the computer nerd that I am....but my 20 year high school reunion is coming up and it really got me to thinking about not wanting to scare the people I used to go to school with. I haven't seen any of my classmates in 20+ years and I think it is safe to say I have changed just a little.

The funny part is, when I was a kid I was a hellion but looked nice. Now I am an adult and I am the total opposite...but I look like a hellion. Go figure.

Over the last few years of mailing out all this free stuff, prizes and computers, I have become good friends with my FedEx driver, not an acquaintance, Ron. Well, I just put together a computer for Ron's church and I wanted to show you this system because this is what I am striving for with the school computers we are building.

Not too shabby, Athlon64 3200+, 1GB memory, GeForce 5900Ultra and so on. A fantastic box for the church, something that will serve them well, looks good and enough horsepower for the pastor to get his frag on. O.K. I doubt anyone in the church is going to be doing any late night gaming...but they could with this machine...and that is the point. I will keep you posted on my progress with the school computers as well...we are doing great so far!

I am going to give away a bunch of Best Buy gift certificates over at [H] Console soon (
make sure you keep checking the announcements area). These can be used at any BB location or online so everyone can get in on the free stuff even if you don't have a BB near you.

I have had a bunch of great people step up to the plate and offer support for the computers for kids project we have going. The lovely Karen Chu has offered help, our weekend news guy Rich Tate has stepped up and others like Eugenio "BaconGrease" Monasterio and David Rockwell have all done the same.

I plan on hitting up some of our friends in the corporate world next.

A bunch of you asked why I am not taking monetary donations for the school computers, this is the deal... I am out several thousands of dollars after a run in with everyone's favorite online payment service. I had never had a problem with them for years, then recently they locked my account and left me high and dry.

The irony is that after years of doing good things for other people, I get hosed in return. I sent out the computer to our last winner, I donated $2,500 from my own personal bank account (I know that is stupid, but I have done it several times for Child's Play / Penny Arcade and never had a problem) only to find out my account had been locked and money sent to me has been held for months.

The hilarious part is that I cannot even have a donation drive for myself anymore either, you know... a SEND STEVE BEER AND CHICKEN WINGS FUND...because I no longer have an online payment service. Someone else would have to do it in my honor. LOL!!! So there you have it.

My next charity project is going going to be for our local school district. I am putting together three computers for the school so that the kids do not need to do computer lab on a 633MHz WinXP box with only 256MB of RAM.

I will be taking hardware donations ONLY for this project. If you have some decent hardware that you wouldn't mind parting with, LET ME KNOW HERE. I need everything, so don't be shy! No monetary donations, please.

We have posted another review today at [H]Console, this time around we took a look at Marvel Nemesis: Rise Of The Imperfects. If you are considering this game, make sure you read our review before you drop your hard earned cash on this one...you'll be glad you did.

I saw something today that I thought went out of style years ago on the web…charging money for website access. What the!?!?! It is true. You are not going to believe this but some people still have the nerve to charge as much as $15 - $20 a MONTH…$100 a YEAR just to visit their site!!! What? I’m not trying to be a dick (
that doesn’t mean I am not a dick, I am just saying that I am not trying to be one) but it is pathetic to charge people money to visit your website. PA-THE-TIC.

Anyhow, Hypothermia will always be free. I give away more stuff here than anywhere else on the planet. You don’t see ANY advertisements here, no pop ups / unders. NO registration, no fees, no nothing. I work hard to make sure that I give back as much as I possibly can to the people who matter the MOST (
you). Without you, I would not be in a place where I could give away all the stuff I do. Without you, none of this would be possible so I could never dream of charging you money to come here.

Apparently what I am doing works. We have tons of readers,
forums with almost 60,000 active members (1,000 – 1,500 people online at any given time) and together we have done some of the greatest things for people in need, charity and children. All for free.

Now, all I need is your credit card number….
