We are still waiting for the cases to show up, we have everything else
here to start setting up the systems and get them ready for auction. I
put together a white system ( there
will be two white systems and four black
) and snapped a picture to give you guys an idea of what you will have
to bid on. This system here does not have all the bells and whistles (
like the Vantec Nexus and Vantec Fanbus ) that some of the other systems
will have, but this one is definitely a screamer.

Pentium4
2.4 @ 2.8GHz, Gigabyte PE667
Ultra, Radeon 9700Pro, Hitachi
17" LCD, 512MB Corsair PC2700,
IBM DeskStar 60GB, Pioneer 16x DVD,
Complete DangerDen water cooling system, Enermax
350w PSU, Blue Cold Cathode, Xoxide
Z-40 Case, Logitech Mouse / Keyboard.
Radeon
9800Pro -Steve
Thanks to the great guys and gals at Visiontek,
we have a Radeon 9800Pro to put in one of the auction systems. How is
that for awesome? I'll take input from you guys on which system you
would like to see that card go into. We have Pentium4/ DDR systems and
XP2600+ / nForce2 systems, we'll look at which system will provide the
highest level of performance and smack that bad boy in that system. We
will have an auction page up soon with pictures of the systems posted
for you to take a look at. Again, I apologize about the shipping issues
that are holding the auction up...but we will be ready to roll
soon.

We are still waiting on the cases and video cards to arrive, shipping is
kicking our butts right now and holding everything up...as soon as
everything gets here we can get it put together, tested and the auction
started.
03.25.03 -Steve
I get a lot of e-mail thanking me for the auction we are about to hold.
Not only because you
guys will be able to bid on top of the line systems for a fraction of
what they would normally sell for, but because we choose to do these
auctions for people who really need a little help. I told you this
auction was close to my heart because my mother is blind. My mother was
an artist BEFORE she went blind over a dozen years ago, she used to
paint and draw for a living. After she went blind...she could no
longer do even simple tasks like taking care of herself...let alone
continue to paint and draw. Through the help of total strangers who
donated their time, effort and resources, my mother was able to get a
guide dog...live a normal life, and continue her artwork as a sculptor. My
mother now has a successful art studio, she creates amazing
artwork and teaches young people how to overcome disabilities through
art. All this was made possible through the help of people that work
tirelessly to help people with disabilities. I am simply taking a cue
from those people who work with the disabled daily, and have the courage
to extend a helping hand. I am doing my best, with your help and the help of
these fantastic companies, to hopefully help other blind individuals to
live a more independent lifestyle and achieve their dreams and goals by
holding an auction like this that donates the proceeds to the blind. You
can see some of my mothers sculptures
HERE.

We hope everything will arrive today, giving us time to get the systems
assembled and the auction going. Thanks to N2Systems
and Plycon for their
generous donation to the auction as well, it is fantastic companies like
these that make auctions like this possible. I will have pictures
posted, in a day or two, of the auction systems. I also have some
interview action coming soon, and our DangerDen kit has finally been
given away to the default lucky winner.

Finally resolved our DNS issues, so everyone that was trying to get to www.hypothermia.us
and ended up at www.hardocp.com
will no longer have that problem. That little hiccup also made it
impossible to update the web site for the last 3 - 4 days, so everyone
who e-mailed me asking "what is up"...now you know. Everything
is almost here for the auction, so we can get this thing under way....be
ready.
03.18.03 -Steve
I know we talk a lot about the big guys like KD
Computers, and other companies that graciously stepped up to
the plate and donated the parts we need for this auction, but there is
something else that makes me feel really good about this auction. YOU
GUYS, individuals whom have contacted me to donate a single item like a
motherboard or processor to the cause. Great people like David
Rockwell, Dan March and
Jarrad Mayfield that have
donated products to this auction are the type of people we can all be
proud of as individuals. When the auction opens and you look at the
killer systems we have to offer, remember the little guys that made this
possible too!
Added
Auction BONUS -Steve
I have decided to make this auction a LOT more fun by adding a little
surprise to it. I have put together two 1GHz
Giveaway Machines that will
be given away FOR FREE, randomly to people bidding in the
auction. These may not be top end systems like the auction systems, they
will not include any monitor, but will be complete in every way and make
a great second machine or a system you can use for LAN gaming or as a
second rig for your home network. I also have 3 GeForce3 Ti500 cards to
be given away as well during the auction. So
everyone that enters a bid into the auction also has the chance to win
one of these five prizes.
Is that cool or what?
Shipping
Woes -Steve
We are going to attempt to launch our auction next week, instead of
today. With the sheer amount of items that have to make it here in time for the
auction, you can imagine how hard it is to coordinate all of this. We
currently have about half the items needed for the auction here at
Hypothermia, with the others arriving ASAP. I also have two items that
arrived DOA, a Pentium4 2.4GHz CPU and an AMD motherboard. So I need to
get those two items replaced for the auction...wanna help? Shoot
me a line if you want to donate either item.
Cool
Upgrades -Steve
ATi has let me know that they have decided to upgrade their video card
donations from the ATi Radeon 9700Pro, to the ATi
9700Pro All-In-Wonder!!! We are working out
the details on products from VisionTek
as we speak to bring these systems up to the highest possible standards
for the auction. In order to do this, Danger
Den has graciously donated top notch water cooling systems
for our auction systems to top everything off. I
can guarantee you this, these will be the best systems available
anywhere, with the latest an greatest from the best vendors on the
planet....all for an amazing cause.
03.13.03 -Steve
It is pretty funny, of all the movie stars we have interviewed here, or
legends from the gaming industry, people from CNN, professional
athletes...no one generates more interest than
my buddy Asia. You guys are driving me nuts asking about
when we will have her back in the Hypothermia Headquarters to hang out
and answer some of your guys questions and such. Well, Asia just
finished up her current project, and is vacationing in England for a
month...so you'll have to wait a little longer!! Here are a few pictures
to hold you over.

Oh yeah, about the
auction....more and more auction stuff is arriving daily, but I am still
waiting on all the items to arrive before I can start assembly of the
auction systems. I will post some pictures of the systems when they are
complete and ready to bid on, so be ready!!!
