I actually had a funny comment from a reader awhile back, someone seemed rather annoyed that I had nothing but good things to say about "Every stinkin' person I interviewed". I only interview people I respect, admire and most of all, LIKE. What kinda dumbass would intentionally interview someone they hated??

. . . which brings me to my interview subject, Christian, someone I like.

I actually met Christian Antkow at this years E3, I snapped a couple lewd photos of him with different Playboy girls in compromising positions... a little blackmail, and Ta-Daa, I have an interview!!!

One of the things I really liked about Christian ( besides his wardrobe ) was the way he asked me what I thought of the new Q3A Team Arena Pack being shown at the show. The funny part is, He really was interested in what I had to say.... I like the fact that Christian, MADE time ( no one really HAS time at E3 ) to listen to the retarded little ideas and comments I had. We actually sat on the floor right in the middle of the Activision Booth Area and Christian took notes!! (o.k. I made that part up...but that woulda been cool )

I asked Christian what he thought about doing an interview for Hypothermia, and he started choking me saying " Give me back those incriminating photos you little bastard!!"

. . . .here's our interview with Christian.

1.) How come we hardly ever see any interviews out of you?? We all see the Paul Steed stuff, everyone wants to know about John Carmack. . . but what about you??

I guess I just keep to myself mostly. Also, I'm pretty specific about what interviews I do. If I don't like the questions, I won't complete it. After reading an interview with me, I'd like the reader to come away with knowing something new either about myself or id. Quite a few interviews are just rehashes of info that's available elsewhere on the net.

2.) A lot of people seem to have this skewed image of you. . . ya know, like you’re a grubby bastard with torn jeans and a AC/DC t-shirt.. how’d that happen??

Heh, probably because I am a grubby bastard most of the time. My typical garb is jeans and a t-shirt, but I like to think I possess the fashion sense to dress accordingly for a particular occasion.

3.) Paul gets the chicks. . . friendship aside, doesn’t that just piss you off??

 Sometimes.

4.) What's the most annoying thing to deal with as a Famous Game Dude ( heh.. technical term)

Interview requests from people like you =P Heh, ok, all kidding aside, I *HATE* having my picture taken. I really really do. It also wierds me out sometime to be at an event and have people come up to me and go "WOW! YOU ARE THE FAMOUS CHRISTIAN ANTKOW!!!!", I'm like "Huh ?" I just like to think I work hard, and try to do the best I can at my job. People being fans of our work is a bonus, but don't lose perspective. I'm just a regular guy who was at the right place at the right time and ended up working for one of the hottest FPS shops in the world.

5.) Do you get mobbed in tha mall by chicks like Paul Steed??

I wish.

6.) What passes the time when your bored as hell??

Watching TV, writing music, cleaning my house, and playing EverQuest when I'm *REALLY* bored.

7.) Drink of Choice?

Ginger Ale.

8.) Tunes of Choice?

Techno, Trance and Industrial.

9.) Babe of Choice?

Jennifer Love Hewitt. What I wouldn't give to have a cup of coffee with her...

10.)Besides meeting me. . . what was the coolest thing about E3??

Noticing Mark "Luke Skywalker" Hamil at the Activision press booth upstairs right after Todd completely butted in front of him to retrieve his briefcase. I was like "Dude, that was Mark Hamil!" Todd didn't notice I guess. Todd was pretty embarrassed after the fact =P

Hanging out at the Gamespy booth and watching people play q3tourney2 was pretty cool, as well as guaging reactions and hearing comments about the missionpack at the Activision booth.

11.) You’re working on a new project. . . . . HOW MUCH ASS IS IT GOING TO KICK!?!?!

Ask me again in a year. We are just starting our initial research with John's new technology now. Can't really say much about it at present.

12.) Since I am unable to afford much more than BUS TOKENS, can you show me some really cool car pictures you may have laying around?? What’s a deciding factor in picking out a premium ride like that?? ( for reference purposes only, ya know. . when I quit riding the bus )

These are some pics of my new Boxster S when I first picked it up.

I don't know if I can finger deciding factors. I just know what I like. I've wanted a Porsche since I was a little kid, so when I could finally afford it, I picked one up. Convertibles are really nice (helps me get some sun on the way into work so I'm not completely pasty white...) I like something that's safe. At 250bhp, it's enough power to have fun, but not kill myself at the same time. ABS and traction control is nice. The mid engine design of the car is just amazing on handling. It corners incredibly well, and the breaks are just stellar (calipers ripped pretty much right off the current 996's)

John rented out Texas Motorsport Ranch last month, and after driving my car around that track, I know that my driving ability isn't up to par enough to do even 75% of what my car is capable of, so my having anything more powerfull would just be a waste. I'm also pretty damned respectfull of my car too, so I don't want to completely go full throttle on a track and risk wiping out and wrecking my car.

I'm still wrestling with the idea of slapping on a supercharger when they become available for the Boxster S's, but it's kinda hard for me to justify that extra power when I'd rarely use it.

and the bonus question

Since we are old friends, and hang out together all the time, share a little something with us that many people might be surprised to know about you.  ( like that whole Armani wardrobe thing you got going!!!)

Heh. Hugo Boss. I'm a Hugo Boss nut. 90% of my "nice" clothes are Hugo Boss.

A little something about myself ? Heh, my nickname around these parts is "The Lumberjack" ;)

This is the part where I say something really profound, spewing wisdom and knowledge that would shed a little light into Christians psyche....

Uh, whatever.

What you will notice about ALL the id Software guys is that they're just like hanging with the fellas, none of the big "ROCK-STAR" mentality that you'd think they'd have or that is often portrayed in the online media. I inadvertently bagged on Christian ( I was like. . "Wow, I didn't recognize you without being grubbed out" ) and Christian was SUPER COOL about it.  No attitude whatsoever.

I am really impressed with 97% of ALL the big game guys I met, the fellas who have made a couple trips around the block didn't get there on accident, and it shows when you instantly feel at home with the guys and are shootin' the shit about their current project, or future ideas and they all want your input.

Pretty damn cool.

Speakin' of pretty damn cool... I am also giving away two Copies of Q3A: Team Arena when it ships, to a couple lucky readers. So hit the link below and submit your name and a valid e-mail address with the subject being : Q3A Team Arena. easy enough??
