Each interview I do here at Hypothermia has a "story" behind it. . . whether it's a long standing story, or simply one that happens as I interview the person.

Everyone has heard me talk about how "impressive" it is that certain WebMasters and Game Developers seem to make time for the little guys. . . with Kyle Bennett, his "success" has never changed his status as a little guy. Kyle always has time for the fellas, and even if he just returns a simple one sentence e-mail. . . he's not "to good" to write a guy back, or to thank him for their contributions. I know this for a fact, I have been a big fan of HardOCP since the early days. . . . and I regularly send in stuff to Kyle that I think he would enjoy, or the readers will. He always takes a second to shoot a line and say "cool" or "nasty. . quit sending nudies of yourself".

This is a far cry from any of the other WebMasters and or Industry Guys that are now too damn big to submit to a few questions, or just too damn big to even acknowledge you even sent an e-mail.  I like the fact that Kyle has built his site up to where it is now WITH us, and FOR us.

On with the show . . . .

Before and After

1.) How'd you get started in the WebMastering Game and/or who was your inspiration.

It was all due to White Zombie and this week long drug binge. Next thing I knew I woke up next to Alex “Sharky” Ross in a cheap motel and he was asking me something about having my own page. Well, needless to say, I ran…..and ran……and ran…..and ran… I made Forrest Gump look like a puss…

2.) What's the most outrageous thing you ever did ON your site.

Besides all the goat and sheep pr0n, it has to be a freezing the chickens and then seeing who could shatter their heads with a pellet gun from 30 yards away. That was not actually on the website, but we thought about it………..a lot.

2b.) What’s the craziest thing you’ve done while overclocking.

We have been through our share of boards. Many leave the Underground Bunker not quite working as well as they did when they came in. Many have succumbed to water damage and many solder damage, but if you want crazy, stick your tongue on the trace that supplies the power to a DIMM. AND short it out….then you will be a real man.

(**interviewer's note. . . . I tried this and I don't feel any different**)

3.) People you admire in the industry. ( please limit your answer to 2 people and EXCLUDE me, that's a given. )

1.) The guys over at id software. If it were not for them I would most likely never have gotten into computers so deeply. Let’s face it, you had to have tweaked out rig to run the shit they kept putting out.

2.) My Mom & Dad. Mom was actually the first person to ever show me DOOM. Dad was the first person to ever show me how to build a PC. Kinda strange that Mom & Dad where the birthplace of the HardOCP…

4.) What's the most annoying thing to deal with as a Hard-Ass Web Site Havin’ Overclockin kinda stud that you are??

The crack dealers in the neighborhood. They are always outside with their BOOMIN systems on. A rapped out bass line will seriously screw up the best Tool CD.

5.) Does your WIFE still nag you to "Get off that damn computer before I break it" now that your a famous WebDood.

Yeah she still does, but she runs now when she does it.

6.) Tips you can give HardOCP wanna be’s in training. . (like me!!)

Make it original, make right in your heart, make it EVERY DAY. If you put all those things together and SEE a fan base, tell the experts to stick it in their ass.

7.) Drink of Choice

Booze…drinking a VO and Coke as I write this up, go figga…

8.) Tunes of Choice

Metal, hard grinding metal… From Ministry to Black Flag to NIN. I got 22 stiches in the mosh pit at a Metallica concert in ’94 and actually met my wife as I was coming out of the pit after Pearl Jam in ’92…

9.) Babe of Choice

Gotta love Momma. She is 4.5 months pregnant right now and any other answer might subject me to the the FrgDcklss instead of FrgMstr . . .

10.) We’ve heard that your “alternative use for thermal compound” has resulted in a
FragMaster Jr. being on the way. . . . tell us how that’s effected you.

Yes, we found out that that stuff does not mix well with latex condoms. That'll teach me to read the label.

and the bonus question

Since we’re age old buddies, and long time friends. . . tell us some things about you that most people out there wouldn’t know about you….

I am really a very nice person. Just have a very bad fucking attitude. Dunno why, I think I like it that way…

I know a few things about tha FragMaster that maybe he doesn't want people to know. . . . . . Kyle's the kinda guy that will be in your corner, and go to bat for you when you might need a hand. I know of one particular instance when a certain company called the Fragsta himself wanting to see what he thought of "Hypothermia" and Kyle himself stood up for me. . . the little guy. Pretty cool if ya ask me. . . considering a bad word from Kyle could've easily turned that company away from Hypothermia. . . . even Kyle doesn't know I know that.

. . . . all that for a guy like me, who just likes sending in his STOOPID ideas to HardOCP. That's what HardOCP is all about, helping out the little guys who are willing to help themselves. I had a reader of mine actually say "That place (HardOCP) is like a fuckin' support group for overclocking FREAKS!!"

I thought for a minute before getting really pissed and I thought about it. . . .

Yeah, I guess he's right!!! Thanks!!

Cool. . . .

If you need a support group and a place to share your ideas. . . or see other ideas being shared, head on over to HardOCP and hang with the fellas. . ( or freaks, as we like to be called )!!
