If man evolved from monkeys and apes, why do we still have monkeys and apes?

(*This interview was originally intended to air in late October but was delayed due to the server issues we have been experiencing over the last few months*) Last year at the Penny Arcade Expo, commonly known as PAX, the world was introduced to a lovely group of gaming girls known as The Frag Dolls. UbiSoft scoured the planet for the best female gamers alive and assembled an amazingly talented group of ladies that, when it comes to gaming and for lack of a better term, have the ability to seriously lay the smack down on anyone unfortunate enough to cross their paths. The Frag Dolls, sponsored by UbiSoft, are currently traveling the globe representing girl gamers everywhere.

In the traditionally male dominated gaming community, the Frag Doll have impressed even the most hardcore / jaded gamers out there with their undeniable gaming skills and top notch sportsmanship. The fact that all the girls on the team happen to be drop dead gorgeous is secondary to everything they bring to the game, though I have to admit, it is a huge bonus to square off across an Xbox from one of these ladies than it is the average male gamer. No offense guys.

What is the Frag Dolls mission statement? We'll let them tell you:

Okay, boys. The days of cooties have gone the way of Centipede. Girls are into games now, and we're just as hooked as you are. In fact, girl gamers make up 43% of all gamers, according to the ESA. So, where are all the ladies in the house?

Enter the Frag Dolls, a group of girl gamers out to have a little fun. We're here to represent the ladies in gaming with the taste and talent for beating you at your own games. So, for all you guys who think the only gals in gaming are the leather-clad, pixilated beauties on your screens, think again. We're real, and we've got the skills to teach you a few tricks of our own. So hang around and check out our blogs, or come challenge us online. You just might learn something.

frag /frag/ n. & v. · n. 1 number of kills. 2 a fragmentation grenade. · v. 1 to eliminate other players in multiplayer shooters (fragging).

rag·doll physics {buzzword} /ragdol fiziks/ n. 1 a program allowing videogame characters to react with realistic body and skeletal physics.

frag·doll /fragdol/ n. 1 a female gamer with the skills to dominate in multiplayer shooters. 2 a lady with the sass to use the laws of physics to her incontestable advantage.

Cutting to the chase, I put together a handful of questions for the ladies and let them pick and choose a few to answer. So, in no particular order, this is what the Frag Dolls had to say:

BrookeLyn

Height: 5'10"  Eyes: Brown  Hair: Dark Brown  Where I live: Texas  Favorite Music: Outkast, Billy Joel, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder

1.) How did you come up with your nickname / gamer tag

Well my first name is Brooke and I sort of wanted to keep that in my gamer tag. So I decided to name myself BrookeLyn. Besides it was also a nickname for me growing up.

2.) At what age did you start gaming & how did get started in gaming?

It was my 5th birthday party when I received my first Nintendo. I think I just grew up in the times where instead of my parents getting a babysitter for me they just told me to go play my Mario bros. I did this until Sega came out and totally got hooked on Sonic the Hedgehog. Now that I think about it, most of my early childhood memories have to do with me playing video games in my room all day long.

3.) Many of you have your roots in PC Gaming, are you primarily a console or PC gamer and how do you split your time between the two?

I have never been a PC gamer unless you consider Yahoo pool a PC game. No j/k lol!! For the past 2 years I have been dedicated to my Xbox but recently tried to learn how to play Far Cry on PC. It wasn’t pretty. I would have to look down at the keypad to see what key to hit and by the time I looked up I was dead. I wanted to plug a controller into it but I wasn’t sure if I would be a disgrace to the whole PC gaming world if I did that. I’m not giving up though. I want to be great at all platforms someday, so I’m still practicing.

4.) Favorite games on all platforms?

This question is easy for me. No doubt in my mind Rainbow Six 3.

5.) Most anticipated game or games?

I’m sure like 99.9% of gamers in this world I am totally looking forward to Halo 2. I got a chance to play it recently at PAX and all I can say is, “WOW.”

6.) Obviously the first thing people think when they see you ladies are NOT "she's a gamer". What is the initial reaction you get from people when they learn you are a hardcore gamer?

Well when I play Xbox Live people get to see my skills first before they find out that I’m a girl. When they do find out I mostly get positive responses, people giving me props. When going to events and representing Frag Dolls I get a lot of guys coming up to me after a tournament and saying, “Honestly, when I first saw you I thought you were just paid to stand around and look pretty; I didn’t really think you would be so good at video games.” I love hearing those responses. I love the fact that I can play. I love the fact that I can prove people wrong about girl gamers.

7.) What is the most memorable gaming moment you have had so far?

I have my own personal goals I give myself on Rainbow Six 3 on Xbox Live, like killing all 8 enemies in one round. Now, I have to say winning the Black Arrow tournament at PAX with my girls really took the cake. The feeling was unbelievable.

8.) What do you think of all the attention the Frag Dolls have been getting? I mean, you have already been featured on Bungie's website, how cool is that?

The attention is awesome, it’s still new to me, but I love every second of it. I still count my blessing every night for this great opportunity Ubisoft has given me. Bungie was great!!! Right when I found out I called all my friends and told them to look up the site. They were so happy for me.
