Today's Random Thought

Whose CRUEL idea was it for the word "LISP" to have an "S" in it??

Happy Anniversary to me! Getting married on a day that comes only once every four years is cool.

Congratulations to Omprakash Munshi who won the raffle system. Not a bad deal to get a complete top of the line system for the $40 he spent on tickets! We are making arrangements now to ship the system. To everyone else, a heartfelt thank you for making all of this possible. For all the other people who have contacted me wanting to donate to Brian and his family, we will be doing a follow up to this in a few short days so that others wanting to contribute can contribute.

So, just to be clear, we will announce another benefit for the Smith family on a larger scale very soon. I truly underestimated the amount of response this would get, and we truly do want to make sure everyone who is wanting to help can. So stay tuned. Again, my sincerest thanks to everyone who helped Brian's family. We sent the proceeds of this to Brian today along with our thoughts and prayers.

I am amazed at the way all of you guys continually come together to help others that are in need. I am compiling a list of names (
names only, no e-mail addresses or personal information ) to forward along with the raffle donations to Brian Smith and his family so he can see who is responsible for this enormous outpouring of support and caring. Any donations that come in after the close of the raffle, as usual, will be returned to the senders unless otherwise specified.

What you guys have done here in a matter of just a few hours is remarkable and I am extremely proud to have you all as friends / readers. The bottom line is that what we did here today will help ease a huge burden in an already devastating situation. You should all be very proud of yourselves for the way you have come together as a community, I know I sure am proud of you.

Computer Raffle:  -Steve
Most of you know Brian Smith from
ProCooling.com. During the delivery of Brian's brand new baby girl, his wife suffered a stroke and the outlook isn't good. Brian now has 4 children to take care of while his wife is laying in the stroke ward at the hospital. I am personally donating a complete 3GHz computer system to be raffled off to benefit Brian and his family. There will only be 400 spots open at $5 each to give all of you a good chance of winning at the same time donating to a worthy cause. Check out the raffle if you are interested in helping and want to win a complete custom computer ( follow the link to see the specs ).

RAFFLE IS NOW CLOSED

"Just got back from hospital with my new daughter but I didn't get to bring my wife with us. Hemorrhagic stroke in the right basal ganglia and she is in the stroke ward. This means that she had some bleeding in the right side of the base of her brain. This made her lose some motor control on one side and have a difficult time moving, talking and thinking."

Busy, busy, busy. I have a whole slew of cool stuff coming up for you guys that I think you will really like. I am also in the process of procuring a handful of GameBoy Advance SPs for an upcoming "One A Day". Some of the fellas over in the Penny Arcade forums suggested I do a cool GameBoy Advance SP giveaway, so I am busy rounding up the hardware and trying to snag some games & peripherals to go with them.

New "A Day" Giveaway:  -Steve
After the last contest being somewhat of a downer (
41% of our regular entries) I concluded that you guys just weren't too interested in the 400/533 FSB stuff anymore...so I pulled a bunch of strings and got six new 2.8GHz "C" 800MHz FSB processors for this next giveaway. Now I KNOW you guys will dig on these bad boys, so click the damn pic and get in it to win it!!!

Just as a reminder, I do these giveaways for you guys...I don't get anything out of the deal, no one sells names or addresses or any of that other crap. I keep banners to a minimum, no pop-up ads or anything like that. The companies you guys see here are top notch companies that BELIEVE in giving back to the community. I'm not too bummed out, when I get low turn out...it simply means that you guys weren't into the prizes I had up for grabs that's all.

Winning notifications were sent out last night, if everyone responds, we can open a new giveaway. I have some 800MHz FSB Pentium4 processors ready for our next giveaway, so that should be exciting. Also, many thanks to all of you who sent condolences for Freddy, I certainly appreciated it.

02.16.04:  -Steve
I apologize for not having the winning notifications sent out today. My longtime pet Freddy, whom most of you know as the iguana that ate the 3GHz Pentium4 in 2002, died yesterday and we spent most of the day dealing with that. I am not a "pet person" but Freddy was my pal and we spent a lot of time together over the last few years and he will be sorely missed.

Remember to check your inboxes to see if you have won, I will have notifications out soon.

We will be doing another video card giveaway next week. Oddly enough, this barebones small form factor PC giveaway has been our most unpopular (
haven't heard me say that in a long time...now have you ) giveaway in a long time. The good news is, lower numbers of people entering = better odds for those of you who did. Oh by the way, these will be NVIDIA cards this time around...trying to spread the love around and our last few big giveaways have been ATi.
