Cross
Dressing Cat -Steve
Hold it, Hold it...HOLD IT. Let's get this something straight here....MY
CAT is not a cross-dresser. It is Asia's cat that is a
cross-dressing kitty. Needless to say that the poor cat didn't dress
himself that way!! And that shirt looks awfully familiar.

Huge News -Steve
Who do you love?? It better be Monitors
Direct baby, and this is why: We have been working hard behind
the scenes with Monitors Direct on this auction and today, the gang let
me know that they are 110% behind our auction, and will sponsor
three...yes THREE, awesome
17" Hitachi CML174 flat panel monitors ( two black, one
white ) to round out our ass kicking machines for this auction. Without
divulging my top secret contact at Monitors Direct, I just want to send
out a little public acknowledgement to my buddy Kim over there, and
thank her for all the hard work she does for you guys making sure we
have killer displays for all of our contests and giveaways.
Good News -Steve
I still need a
Pentium4 processor, and I still need two hard drives. If you can donate
one or all of these items, please
contact me here.
O.K., from the looks of
things I might have my monitor situation worked out and be able to get
you guys some better monitors for auction than what I could personally
offer. For now, I know for sure I will have a couple of high end systems
( 2.4GHz (non - oc'd ), 512mb Corsair
TwinX Memory, Radeon 9700Pro, 500w PSU, Black cases with
window mod and black peripherals, Black DVD drives, Nexus Fan
Controller Panels, custom window appliqués, etc. )
based on both Intel and AMD. The auction will start next Friday, so be
ready to bid!!.
Good News /
Bad News -Steve
Good News: The first wave of items for the computers have
started to come in so the start of the auction will be very soon now,
probably the end of next week.
Bad News: It
looks like I will be coughing up for the monitors and the autographed
games myself this time around ( remember
the fall back plan I talked about
) because I haven't been able to get any response from the companies I
contacted for donations. There is NO WAY that I will let you everyone
down on this one, so I will cough up the items myself...I have a couple
of big, black ViewSonic monitors I'll donate...and just get myself some
new ones later. Heh...I was wanting to upgrade to flat panel monitors
eventually anyway.
Motherboard
Sponsor -Steve
The fine folks at ABIT
have offered to help out with the mainboards we need for the auction,
which is hugely appreciated. There is a really funny story behind
getting ABIT on board for the auction, and you should take my advice on
this...never accidentally call one company by another name on accident
when you are begging for support. Fortunately ABIT didn't hold this
against me, and are donating the needed motherboards for the auction.
Talk about a great bunch of guys!! Now I just need them hard drives and
processors and the auction is on!!
Individual
Donations -Steve
A huge thanks to Mr. Dan March whom decided, as an individual, to
donate a processor to the auction. I had never thought about it until
today, but it would only take 5 more people to donate the remaining
items ( 2 processors and 3 hard drives ) we need to complete the
list of products needed to start the auction. If you want to donate to
the auction like Dan did, please feel free we could REALLY use the help!
Again, Thanks to Dan, as well as our other sponsors for helping make
this auction possible.
The Danger Den winner has
been notified, check your in-box!! As per our normal procedure, we will
keep taking entries until the winner confirms his winning entry. Next
up, a complete system from Swiftech!!
Almost There
-Steve
The auction items are almost all accounted for, I still need the
processors and hard drives mentioned below, but I am getting closer. I
have had phenomenal response to this auction, and landed almost
everything in just over one week. SWEET!!! On somewhat of a strange
note, I still haven't heard back from many of the game developers that I
had hoped would contribute autographed games and / or memorabilia, and I
still have no word on monitors for these ass-kicking systems yet.

SO,
this is my back up plan just in case I can't get any monitors or
autographed stuff. I will personally provide my black ViewSonic monitors
to the auction systems so that they will be complete....and I will also
auction off my PERSONAL
autographed game collection as well to help raise the money
we need for this auction if we don't get any more support by the time
the auction starts. These are about half of the games I have
autographed, most are signed by the complete development team for each
game.
Final Items -Steve
All we need now are the processors ( three
2.4GHz
Pentium4 or three AthlonXP
2400+ CPU's ) and
the hard drives. We have everything else ( still waiting on word
about the monitors though ). After we get these items, we can kick
off the auction! Thanks goes out to Plain
Label PC for the DVD drive donations they made today,
another great company joining us in a great cause. If you can help with
the remaining items, shoot me a line!
Monolith
Machine -Steve
Monolith, the guys that make
awesome games like No One Lives
Forever ( 1 & 2 ), Aliens
Vs. Predator 2, the upcoming Matrix game and many others,
have done the unthinkable and donated a COMPLETE computer, minus the
monitor ( we'll find one for it ) for the auction!!! How cool is that?
An amazing contribution from the Monolith crew, who slaved away to get
this rig to you guys for the auction. Wow. I have been friends with
Jason Hall and the gang at Monolith for a few years now, matter o'
fact, Jason was the very
FIRST interview from the gaming industry ever conducted
at Hypothermia about 3 years ago, but for Monolith to step up like this,
is just amazing.
Processor
Sponsor -Steve
I need either three 2.4GHz
Pentium4 CPU's or I need three AthlonXP
2400+ CPU's for my auction...or a mixture of both. This is
important because the systems obviously are based around being either
AMD or Intel platforms. Got an idea or want to donate to a great cause,
let me know. This goes for the Hard
Drives as well. Oh yeah, while you are here...enter to win
the Danger Den water cooling kit we are giving away:

HERE!!!
Even More On
Board -Steve
A big thanks to Vantec
as well as Corsair and FastSigns
for stepping up to the plate and donating to our auction. Corsair taking
care of the memory needs, Vantec donating much needed products and
FastSigns has graciously donated window appliqués for each computer,
custom designed by the winning bidder...sweet.
Auction
Needs -Steve
I am doing phenomenally well getting the stuff together for this
auction, I still need a handful of stuff, mainly 3 processors, 3
hard drives and 3 DVD drives. I haven't heard back from all the
companies I have contacted yet, but I figure by the end of the week...I
will have an exact list of things I need ( haven't been donated ). We
have a bunch of gaming companies getting on board to give away
autographed items as well to go along with these awesome machines.
More On
Board -Steve
Xoxide has stepped up and
offered to help out in a huge way for our auction, the guys at Xoxide
have donated the windowed cases w/500w PSUs, cathodes and lighted
fans for the auction. Again, another great
company coming to the aide of the community for a great cause. I have my
fingers crossed and will be hitting the bricks hard to make sure I get
everything I need for this auction in a timely manner.
Auction
Update -Steve
Things are coming along FANTASTICALLY thanks to companies
like ATi and Monolith
jumping onboard almost immediately. This helps other with getting other
sponsors involved, and I will announce the companies that are taking
part in our auction to help the blind as they come in. Something to keep
in mind the next time you make a purchase for your PC is great companies
like these that give back to the community whenever they possibly can as
a way of saying "thanks" for all your support over the years
as customers. I expect a lot more announcements by the end of the week
as well.
Upcoming
Auction -Steve
I am going to put together another auction, sort of like we did for 9/11
( where we raised over $10,000 dollars
). This time around we are going to TRY to put something
together for a cause near and dear to my heart, helping the blind. As
most of you know, my mother is blind...an artist as well as an advocate
for the blind. I am going to try to put together at least three really
nice systems for auction to help the Lions
Club Eye-Vision Programs.
I will be sending out my normal requests to sponsors and see
what we can't get going. Interested in helping out? Let me know.
Happy
Valentines Day -Steve
Happy Valentines Day, if you have that someone special to share the day
with...by all means, do so. If you don't, gather up the fellas and check
out DareDevil for sure. I
got a sneak peak, and this is one you won't want to miss out on. Good
stuff.
02.10.03 -Steve
We are thinking about giving away either THREE
OF THESE or just ONE
OF THESE, which do you prefer? Do you want one big bad ass
prize, or do you like the "one a day" style contests?
Personally I like the one a day contests, but I am interested in what
YOU think. So please check them out, let me know what you think.
