So it's 2004. Where are all the killer attack robots? Flying cars? This year sucks already.

Happy New Year to everyone, please be safe tonight...I want to see all of you back here next year for sure. Killer Gaming Rig #10 opens New Years Day so get ready to throw your name in the hat for the best KGR yet. Stay tuned.

Goddess of Geek:  -Steve
What are friends for? Asia Carrera, AKA the Goddess of Geek, does a lot of stuff around here to help boost my "cool factor" and make me seem way cooler than I actually am. After all, it isn't every day that you can brag about having someone as awesome as Asia wearing your clothes.

Mario Kart: Double Dash!!!  -Steve
We are a huge Xbox household. We have four Xbox consoles in the house and the majority of our 70 games are Xbox titles. We don't use the PS2 anymore, and our GameCube has had one controller and 4 or 5 games in the year and a half we've owned it.

Then my buddies at Penny Arcade kept raving on and on about Mario Kart: Double Dash so I figured there had to be something to this...after all Tycho and Gabe would never steer you wrong, right? So I ran out and grabbed a copy of Double Dash, 3 extra controllers and four cable extensions. The whole family sits down and the madness ensues. HOLY HELL double dash is a blast as a multiplayer game!!! It just so happens the wife and son are a good team and my daughter and I are a good team which makes for some seriously fun racing. Mario Kart: Double Dash brings families together.

A shout out to Carole Dube ( one of our loyal Canadian readers ) who was one of our winners in the Autographed Halo giveaway. Carole gave her prize to her son, who is a huge Halo fan, as a Christmas present this year.

You guys ( yes...YOU guys ) got a some mainstream props from a great national magazine this month. The December issue of CPU Magazine made a mention of the way you guys came together and helped Briana LaHara and her battle with the RIAA. The real credit is to you guys for doing the right thing and showing the world that what the RIAA is doing the total wrong way of stopping file sharing. I am proud of you guys, and my hat is off to CPU Magazine for giving you guys a little mainstream press.

We are very close to Christmas and very close to the end of 2003....man, what a great year. In the spirit of having an equally fantastic 2004 the Killer Gaming Rig contest will go live on January 1st 2004! Take a look at the specs below, this will be the best KGR yet! I'm looking into getting 2GB of some ass kicking memory to go with this killer combo as we speak. Stay tuned!

KGR #10 Update:  -Steve
The collection process for the Killer Gaming Rig #10 is off to an amazing start. With only three items 3.2GHz P4EE , the Radeon 9800XT 256MB and the ABIT IC7-MAX mainboard collected so far the KGR #10 is valued at over $1,700.00!! Tell me that isn't awesome. I still have a lot of things to gather up, but this is a great way to get the ball rolling, the giveaway will OFFICIALLY open Jan 1st, 2004.

ATi is a fantastic company that has been a long time supporter of the community, they have once again stepped up to the plate and sponsored another Killer Gaming Rig. ATi has graciously provided a Radeon 9800XT 256MB video card to handle the graphics of the Killer Gaming Rig 10. Again,
I want all of you to remember the companies like ATi and Intel that believe in giving something back to the community ( you guys ) by sponsoring these events.

Alexa Ranking update! Do you guys remember when I made a post about the Alexa Toolbar and the screwy results we were getting here awhile back? Well, I proved my point with Alexa because actual Hypothermia traffic has been up by almost 15% but our ranking with Alexa fell a whopping 21%. This is the explanation; Alexa ranks your website by the amount of people that have the Alexa toolbar installed that visit your site and not the actual traffic to your site. That is the long and the short of it. So the next time you see a site like Hypothermia or HardOCP that has millions of visitors a month being outranked by some 8th graders website that hasn't been updated since 1995...you know why. I actually like the Alexa Toolbar because it is fun to look at statistics and the "way back" feature is awesome, but until everyone that comes here installs it, our ranking will blow.

It took me forever, but I finally got all the AthlonXP 2600+ processors shipped to the winners so everyone should have one for X-Mas. All I have to say is this...THANK GOD FOR FEDEX!!! If you ship more than one or two packages a month, I highly suggest getting a FedEx account. It doesn't cost anything to set up an account, they come right to your door and pick up your packages, they drop off everything at your door ( duh ), they print out all the shipping forms and labels you need...etc. etc. etc.. FedEx kicks ass, that is why they are the official delivery service of Hypothermia...they are that good.

KGR #10:  -Steve
On January 1st we plan on opening the Killer Gaming Rig #10 giveaway and give you guys the chance to win the baddest computer in all the land. If you look at Killer Gaming Rig #1 thru #9 you will see that it is getting harder and harder to come up with a bigger, badder computer for each KGR. Thanks to the fantastic support of the fine folks at Intel we have an awesome 3.2GHz Pentium 4 Extreme Edition to power the KGR #10. I want all of you to remember the companies like Intel that believe in giving something back to the community ( you guys ) by sponsoring these events.

The Year 2003:  -Steve
It is hard to believe that the year is almost over. 2003 was a good year, we gave away a grand total of $24,477.37 in prizes in our giveaways this year, about the same as we did in 2002. I got caught up in "big" giveaways or auctions this year, so we didn't have giveaways every month, but we made up for it in the months that we did. In a world-wide-web full of pay sites, pop-ups and people begging for donations...I have done very well for myself, maintain the website and still find time to scrounge up $24k worth of prizes. It makes me feel good knowing that even though we do not make a single dime off of these contest we can still do so much for you guys through these giveaways.
Well...here is to another great year in 2004!!! Speaking of giveaways, enter to win one of those 6 Athlon XP 2600+ CPUs in our last giveaway of the year ( see below ).

Child's Play:  -Steve
I meant to mention this last week but I have been so busy lately that it slipped my mind. Our friends at Penny Arcade have put together a toy drive for sick children at Seattle Children's Hospital. You know me...I am a sucker for a good cause and I know you guys are too. Have a peek at the Child's Play website and see how the gang at PA are giving gamers a good name by helping out sick children.

Asia's X-mas Card:  -Steve
As always, the very lovely Asia Carrera has dropped off this years Christmas card for all of you to hopefully bring a little extra cheer to your Holiday season. Having Asia as a friend is my X-mas present every year...but being on her Christmas list is hella cool. For those of you who missed them, you can get a peek at X-mas 2002X-mas 2001, X-mas 2000 and X-mas 1999 here.

How many of you guys out there enjoy a good cigar? I have always been a non-smoker, was introduced to cigars about 2 years ago and am now a huge fan of cigars. I am currently liking the Cohiba Triangulo
a lot as well as other Dominican cigars since trade with Cuba makes getting a Cuban cigar a big problem. How many of you guys are cigar buffs? Favorites? Suggestions? Shoot me suggestions. Hopefully I'm on Santa's "nice" list.

12.02.03:  -Steve
This is the last giveaway of the year so make sure you get your name in the hat and win one of six AthlonXP 2600+ CPUs we have in our latest one a day for a week giveaway. While these may not be ultra high-end processors, they make for a great upgrade for an ailing socket A system in need of a boost. Get in it to win it...and as always...Good Luck!
