Today's Random Thought

When you go in for a job interview, I think a good thing to ask is if they ever press charges.

All the Best Buy $500 Gift Cards have been claimed, congrats to all that snagged a free $500. We have a great "One-A-Day" contest coming up soon, we gathered together 6 Gigabyte Radeon X600Pro video cards to give away. It was difficult to get all the cards together, but we managed to do it...so stay tuned, we will give one a way for a week (6 chances to win!)

KGR #12 Update:  -Steve
The Killer Gaming Rig #12 ends this Friday the 3rd. Make sure you get your daily entries in for that...you'll kick yourself if you don't!!!

I am just now getting to the 3207 e-mail I received over the weekend, I will wade through it throughout the day for winners claiming their prizes. I apologize for not having this done already but I forgot that this weekend was the State Fair here so I have been side tracked with the family all weekend and didn't get any e-mail answered or work done. Again, I apologize and will look for responses to the confirmation notices today.

08.23.04:  -Steve
I am opening the Best Buy Gift Certificate giveaway today, so anyone interested in winning a $500 gift certificate (one of four) hit the link and drop your name in the hat. As always, a huge Thanks goes out to Terry at my local Best Buy for the continued support. I will close the contest and announce all four winners on Friday. So get in it to win it!

08.20.04:  -Steve
I have 5 Radeon X600XT cards coming in for another one a day for a week giveaway that will probably be held the last week of August. In the mean time I have a shorter giveaway coming up for $2000.00 worth of gift cards from Best Buy. I am not sure of the denominations yet, but as soon as I know I will post the information. Stay tuned!

KGR #12 Specs:  -Steve
For those of you wanting to know what the specs on the Killer Gaming Rig #12 are, I have some preliminary information. The KGR #12 will have an Athlon64 3500+, VapoChill, Radeon X800Pro with two 200GB SATA hard drives. I am working on a monitor sponsor for a nice LCD and a few other small items like RAM and such. I am kicking it into high gear so make sure you get your daily entry in! If you know of a sponsor for any of the above listed items, let me know!

Well, it took a little longer than I thought, but both winners have now responded! Congratulations to Terence Manist and Kevin Guarina! Arrangements are being made for FedEx delivery of their prizes. Once again, a huge Thank You goes out to everyone who makes these charity drives possible. Proceeds from the drive will be delivered to Penny Arcade ASAP. Since we couldn't find one of those HUGE lottery looking checks we'll just have to settle for a sending a regular size check.

Notifications Sent:  -Steve
Child's Play system winners notifications have been sent. Please check your e-mail for an e-mail from "Steve" at either the Hypothermia.us or the HardOCP.com domain. Good luck. When both our winners respond I will post the results.

For the folks waiting on Killer Gaming Rig #12 specs, they will be posted soon, here is a one word hint to whet your appetite: VapoChill

Thank you to all who wished me a Happy Birthday today. I am 36 today and it doesn't bother me a damn bit! I sincerely appreciate all the well wishes and kind words. I have to say a collective "Thank You" to all of you since there is no way on earth I could respond personally to everyone. Again, much thanks...and I should have charity drive winners names posted later this evening.

08.14.04:  -Steve
The charity drive for Penny Arcade's Child's Play is now closed. I want to thank everyone for their overwhelming support. I big thanks to all the PA readers who made this one of the fastest charity drives we've ever had. All the money was raised in just over 18 hours. Simply amazing! We will have the winners names posted within the next 24 hours. Again, many thanks for another successful drive.

Stay tuned, your chance to get a $5 computer is near. The next donation drive is almost upon us...

08.11.04  -Steve
Well, it looks like you guys have spoken, over 8,750 people voted to do the charity drive now and only 67 people said no, wait until December. I have almost all the hardware here to put together two charity drive systems and it will only take me a day or so to set up the drive. I will announce details tomorrow and probably open this up in the next few days, tops.

08.10.04  -Steve
Over the last month I have gotten at over 950+ e-mail asking me to do a computer charity drive now instead of the holiday season (
around Christmas time) because during the holiday season people spend their extra money on gifts for their family, leaving less to donate to charitable causes. The argument is this; I am only going to do one more drive this year, I already have the computers ready for the donation drive and the charity is already selected so who cares if I do it now or wait until the first of December as I originally planned. What people are saying is that they have the $5 - $25 dollars right now to donate to charity and try to win a computer...but might not have spare money during the holidays.

Since that makes total sense, and this website is after all dedicated to YOU guys, I will let YOU decide. If the overwhelming majority want it now, I will do it now. If the majority think that doing it in December is best, I will do it then.

I get asked all the time if we accept donations for the upkeep of the site and giveaways we do here, while we do not "actively" request donations or anything like that, we added a "donate via PayPal" button some time back to accommodate those of you wanting to give something to help out with our day to day costs of running this site. As always, thanks!

DOOM 3 Winners -Steve
All the winners have responded, congrats to our 12 winners, and thank you to all who entered. The winners of the DOOM 3 giveaway were:
