Today's Random Thought

So it's 2004. Where are all the killer attack robots? Flying cars? This year sucks already.

I need to find a sponsor for a black DVD-RW / CD-RW ( like this one ) combo drive for the Killer Gaming Rig #9. In the past I have went with multiple drives, but this year I have different plans, and multiple drives just isn't practical this time around. Then again, If I can only get separate drives, then I will make do with what I can. Got an idea or a lead to a DVD-RW combo drive? Let me know.

KGR #9 OPEN!!!  -Steve
The Killer Gaming Rig #9 is now officially OPEN!!! You gotta get in it to win it...simply drop your name in the hat once a day and try to win this awesome machine. We are still getting everything together, but we are off to a great start with an Asylum GeForceFX 5900Ultra 256MB, and a 3GHz Pentium4 800MHz FSB part, cooling will be handled by a DangerDen Maze4 Watercooling kit

The Babbage's $150 a Day Contest has come to a close, all winners have been notified and all winners have responded. The Killer Gaming Rig #9 opens tomorrow, but I suppose it'd be O.K. of you wanted to get your name in the hat early. Check out the contest page.

Intel Inside  -Steve
Intel has stepped up to the plate once again for you guys and provided an awesome 3GHz Pentium 4 ( 800MHz FSB ) for the Killer Gaming Rig #9. Trying to always make a "better" KGR from contest to contest is difficult, but with what we have so far, this definitely be the biggest and the baddest ( until KGR 10 ). Again, a big Thanks to Intel for the continued support. When you are plopping down your buying dollars...you guys need to seriously remember which companies support the community like this.

KGR #9 Update  -Steve
Everything for the Killer Gaming Rig #9 just started flowing in after a minor set back. The Asylum GeForceFX 5900Ultra 256MB came in today courtesy of the fine folks at BFG Technologies

Take a gander at that bad boy right there. Again, mucho thanks to BFG for taking care of you guys and this giveaway. This should also make the NVIDIA fans happy that were constantly e-mailing me about having an NVIDIA card in our KGR rigs again. Your wish is granted...in spades, baby!!

I just stumbled onto somewhat of an alarming trend. Apparently my e-mail filters (
yes, I use more than one thanks to craptactular stuff like the W32/Sobig-A worm, and all the other virus/worms/spam ) has been deleting legitimate mail if the subject header fits the description of a possible spam or infected mail. I only found this out today when I noticed a legitimate e-mail with the subject heading "DETAILS" was quarantined accidentally. When I looked further into my "blocked senders" list, there were MANY people on there unintentionally.  So...please, please, please do not send e-mail that says stuff like "make it bigger" or "best rates ever"...because I probably won't get it.

KGR #9 Update  -Steve
Thanks to BFG Technologies the Killer Gaming Rig #9 will have an Asylum GeForceFX 5900Ultra. Our friends at Intel are also stepping up to the plate to make this an Intel powered machine. I have a few more announcements for the KGR #9 coming shortly. The giveaway will officially open this Friday, will run for 4 weeks and then a winner will be drawn. Be ready, this will be the baddest of the Killer Gaming Rigs yet.

Just to let everyone know, I am in need of a plain old GM crate motor ( 350ci ), nothing fancy, the kind you can buy at your local Chevy dealership. I have a 70 Camaro that I am restoring for my daughter, but I haven't done a damn thing with the car in almost 2 years. The plan is to get a GM crate motor, drop it in the car and my daughter and I will rebuild the original 330hp 350ci motor as a father daughter project over the next school year. Got a crate motor laying around? Want something I have? Wanna make a deal or have the motor to sell...shoot me a line.

This is the car in question, it is freshly painted, I have all the emblems, lights bumpers etc. and the interior is being redone as we speak. The car is completely original, all the way down to the original AM radio.

KOTOR Contest Done  -Steve
The Star Wars: KOTOR a day contest is now over. As usual, I will leave the entry form open until all copies are claimed. So feel free to keep entering until I remove the link. Next up will be video cards, and I have some preliminary Killer Gaming Rig #9 specs for you guys as well.

Holy hell...day after tomorrow I turn 35 years old, two days after that my wife Annette turns 35. Although I am now officially old and krusty, I don't think I look a day over 34. Alright, alright, who am I kidding? I look old and mean. The bright side is my wife is still as beautiful as the day I met her and still puts up with me after 15 years. Anyone else hit a milestone this month ( besides Asia who just had a birthday )? Let me know.

Working on some interview / autographed game stuff for you guys right now. For those of you dying to get your hands on some Halo for the PC, I am talking to Randy Pitchford about visiting again and answering some questions as well as getting a few autographed copies of Halo for you guys...sound like a plan?!?! Sounds like a plan to me. For those of you dying to hear from our long time friend Richard "Levelord" Gray...I'll rope him in and get him to answer your questions, maybe get a little autographed ST: Elite Force II action outta the Ritual gang while we are at it. Love those guys!!

After somewhat of a longer than usual pause, we will be starting the Killer Gaming Rig #9 soon. Yes, that is right folks, this will be the 9th time we have given away a complete, bad ass, top of the line system for free. This giveaway had been postponed twice now, the last time because of the charity auction we did to raise money for the blind. So we have our feelers going out to round up the components we need, and we will announce the components as we get them ( as always ). I will open the official link on Friday.

08.02.03  -Steve
The lovely and talented Robin Meade from CNN will be sitting in for a little interview action very soon, something all of you have been looking forward to. I also have a handful of gaming interviews in the works as well...keep your eyes peeled here for those.

Star Wars: KOTOR Contest  -Steve
You guys are lucky that one of the gang that works in the Lucas Arts camp is a huge Asia Carrera fan. We have 7 copies of Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic up for grab in our latest "One-A-Day" giveaway. Do yourself a big favor and enter to win a copy of one of the best games this year...if you can't score a copy here, I highly recommend going out and getting yourself a copy and playing it.
