Whose CRUEL idea was it for the word "LISP" to have an "S" in it??

I have put 113 Uncanny X-Men comics up for sale on eBay. I finally finished off my complete run of X-Men comics from #1 thru #350, but over the last two months I have been submitting my comics to CGC to have my comics graded and slabbed (
put in a clear case ) and now I am getting rid of my extra comics to bankroll the grading of my comic collection. It costs anywhere from $15 - $79 per comic to get the graded...and at 350 comics, you can see that it will cost a small fortune. If you are interested in getting a great start on a X-men collection, you own a comic shop or you are just interested in reselling them individually on eBay...check out the auction.

O.K. when I asked this question about the raffles and charity stuff, I had this in mind. Has everyone heard of Dave Cockrum one of the X-men comics artists? Well, the gist of the story is this...the X-men back in the early 70's almost went out of existence, readership was waaay down and Marvel went for months on end with no new comics. Dave Cockrum was one of the key people that turned the whole franchise around. He brought in Nightcrawler, Storm, Colossus to the team and they re-launched the X-men. The rest is history. Fast forward to this month, Dave Cockrum is in the VA hospital with pneumonia and complications from diabetes. Dave gets no royalties, no monetary kickback at all from the whole X-men franchise and he is in serious trouble. This story at Wizard explains it better than I ever could...it is a seriously screwed up story.

I am rallying the troops for an awesome Shuttle i875 SFF with all top of the line components and hold a benefit for Dave Cockrum and his wife to hopefully help him out in this time of need. I will probably start the benefit soon. Any comments? Please let me know

Raffle Question  -Steve
Well, the results are in...1,274 e-mail for raffles and 1 against. The majority of people agree that as long as they are not impacting current contest and not done too often then it is a great idea. I think two or three times a year max is best unless it is an emergency situation that we all agree on.

04.15.04  -Steve
We have solidified most of the Killer Gaming Rig #11 components. So far we have a 3GHz 800MHz FSB Pentium 4, 1GB of Corsair PC4000 memory, two 160GB SATA hard drives, complete Asetek Watercooling kit, ATi Radeon 9800XT, Lian Li Aluminum Case. Make sure you get your entry in!!

04.14.04  -Steve
Does anyone use the "Friends" feature on X-box Live? I always wondered if people did...I have had Live for 2 years and I never used the feature. Well, I suppose if I get 1,000 requests on my gamer tag Hypothermia for Xbox Live...I'll know a bunch of you use it. Heh..

04.13.04  -Steve
It seems that a LOT of you guys like the raffles and auctions. The problem is, I am not a raffle or auction site and we only do this to help others in need. We try to steer clear of doing them all the time simply because it would just lose its purpose. Having said that, I have now earned a reputation for helping others and I am approached almost daily with requests for help. This is my question, I know you guys dig on the chance to win an ass-kicking computer for a $5 donation to different worthy causes, but ultimately...it is up to you guys. Do you want raffles more often ( monthly, quarterly, bi-annual )? Do you want me to do a killer computer (
not the KGR) every so often for charity? These would be an ADDITION to what I do already and wouldn't take away anything from the current giveaways. If you are for or against, let me know.

04.10.04  -Steve
I noticed 3 or 4 days ago that people with odd/weird names in the "from" section of their e-mail were getting caught by my e-mail filter. Apparently people with 4 or 5 words in their names like "Some Dude From Planet Earth" were getting tossed into the spam folder. Why anyone would have a name like that instead of the regular "Steve Lynch" or "steve@hardocp.com" is beyond me anyway. So if you have a weird name like that in your e-mail address and I haven't responded to you...now you know why.

04.07.04  -Steve
The Killer Gaming Rig #11 opens today. You can enter once a day for the next 30 days. I have an awesome Radeon 9800XT 256MB card to handle graphics on this beast but that is all I can say for right now...specs to be announced soon. In the mean time, get your name in the hat. You can see all 10 of the past KGRs here.

Whoa!  -Steve
Holy cow, I had no idea how many people would be interested in the limited edition Wolverine sculpture, my inbox has been jammed with e-mail about the sculpture. Most of the questions pertained to size of the sculpture (
because you couldn't tell from the picture) and when the giveaway would start. Well, the giveaway will start on Monday the 5th and this picture should give you an idea how large the sculptures are.

Cool Stuff:  -Steve
I have all the winning notifications sent out for the last two contests. Make sure you check your in-box and for those notification. As always keep entering to win until all prizes are claimed.

I also have a pretty damn cool giveaway lined up. I picked up a pretty damn spanky limited edition Wolverine sculpture (only 1500 total made) this week and that gave me a great idea. I am making a deal for three more of these limited addition sculptures to give away to you guys! Here are a few pictures of one.
