04.30.03 -Steve
Our final winner has been chosen, congrats to SARAH
M. of New York, NY. Her system shipped out today, and the
other winners have already taken delivery of their systems. Jesper
Josefsson, winner of the first P4 raffle, is sending a few pictures
along of him with his brand new system for us to post here. On a side
note, the Hypothermia.us URL is borked again, and pointing to HardOCP
instead of here, we will have that fixed shortly as well.
Raffle Time -Steve
Here it is, the unclaimed auction system is now up for raffle, for one
day, or until the 300 spots are gone. This is a fantastic way to donate
to a great cause, and at the same time get a change to win a killer
system.
Just so there is no confusion, this is a system that was up for AUCTION
that went unclaimed because someone "bid-up" the
auction with a couple hundred fake bids, so we are RAFFLING
it off now instead, giving everyone a chance to win while they are
donating to a great cause. On a side note, we will probably hold raffles
in the future instead of auctions to prevent this sort of thing from
happening again...plus it is more fair this way. Good luck to everyone,
and Thank you.
RAFFLE
IS OVER!!!!
(*update*:
Raffle is closed, we will be notifying the winner soon, good luck to
everyone and stay tuned! )
04.28.03 -Steve
We have one system still unclaimed from the auction. HAVE NO FEAR we
decided to open a one day RAFFLE ( not
auction ) on on Tuesday -
Wednesday to get rid of it. We will do this exactly like the previous
raffle, there will be 300 spots sold, 5$ each. This gives everyone a
chance to win a killer system at the same time have a chance to donate
to a worthy cause. We will have pictures from the raffle winners around
the end of the week.
04.26.03 -Steve
Because of people who like to "bid up" auctions ( think
eBay ) we will definitely be moving over to a RAFFLE system from now
on instead of auctions. This serves dual purposes, the mot important
being that EVERYONE will have the chance to win a great system for
helping out a great cause. Limited entries makes the odds much better
for you guys...and this eliminates auction "spoofing". Three
of our auction systems went fine, but we did have one P4 system that
ended up getting a bunch of spoofed bids. I will hold a special one day
raffle for that system this coming tue - wed, cool?
Auction
Closed -Steve
The auction is now closed, we will notify the high bidders...be checking
your e-mail!! We are also selecting the random winners for the 1.33GHz
Athlon machines giveaway systems.
04.24.03 -Steve
I have received a TON of mail asking for more RAFFLE style contests
instead of auctions. It seems that people would much rather donate $5 to
charity and get a chance to win a complete computer than to bid in an
auction. There are a lot of benefits to a raffle as well such as high
chances of winning because only a number of openings are given ( 300 )
and raffles are over in a day or two instead of a week or two. I will
open another raffle system on Thursday the 23rd.
Raffle
Winners -Steve
A member of the Army National Guard, JESPER
JOSEFSSON of Bloomington Illinois, has won the Pentium4
raffle system and the Athlon system was won by DERRICK
R. of Miami Florida. Congratulations to both of you!!!
Your systems will be shipped Friday the 25th. And yes, we know the
Hypothermi.us url is defaulting to HardOCP for some reason, and we are
working on getting that fixed ASAP.
Raffle
Update
-Steve
I am currently waiting on the winners of the raffle to respond, I have
heard back from one of the winners....waiting on the other. I will post
pictures of the raffle winners with their computers too. I am putting
together a huge THANK YOU page that lists all the fantastic people who
donated to the raffle to help make this a success. The auction is still
open until Friday, and then I will post the auction winners after we get
confirmation from them.
Auction OPEN
-Steve
AUCTION
IS OPEN!!!!
The auction is open and will
run for 7 days, there are four systems to bid on. There is also a Raffle
for two systems only 300 chances ( per system ) will be given...the
raffle will close as soon as the 300 spots are taken for each system. We
also have two 1.33GHz
Athlon machines being given away at random to anyone
participating so you still
have the chance to win a pretty damn good system for FREE.
04.16.03 -Steve
O.K. come hell or high water, the auction will start this Friday, a
total of 6 systems will be up on the auction block, with two 1.33GHz
Athlon machines being given away at random to bidders. So even
if your bid doesn't bring home one of this awesome machines, you still
have the chance to win a pretty damn good system for free, just for
bidding. How is that for cool?
04.15.03 -Steve
How are your load times? Is the page loading speedy enough since the
server move? Anyone experiencing any issues like long load times,
missing graphics, wrong banners, etc.? If you are, please drop
me a line and let me know, include OS, browser info and the
likes.
Move Done -Steve
Well, Hypothermia is up and running with only a 12 hour downtime thanks
to Kyle, Cliff and Brian...the move went off well, they managed to get
all 11 servers, three remote power boxes, Cisco switch and Foundry
ServerIron load balancer moved into their new home. There is a better
post and description that explains the move, etc. posted at the [H].

Nice racks...heh, get it?
Nice racks!! Heh...I kill myself. Two of
the dual Intel systems are not installed yet ( white 1U racks ) in this
picture, both
the dual Athlon 2200+ systems are installed though, along with the older
dually Dell Power Edge systems. Never realized there is that much hardware
required to run a few websites now did ya.
04.11.03 -Steve
We will be doing a little site maintenance tomorrow at 12pm noon PST. So the site will be down tomorrow for about 8 hours while we install some new hardware, if all goes well. If you see smoke and flames, things might take a little longer than planned. This goes for all the sites on our network here,
[H]ardOCP, [H]ardForums and
RatPadz, will all be offline as well during this maintenance period.

While we kick back and wait for the cases to show up for our auction, I
decided to post a few pictures of Asia while in England last month. You
ever notice that fine ass chicks can wear any ol' thing...but if a guy
like me wore that hat, I'd be laughed off the planet. What makes the
whole thing even funnier is the fact that there was a whole
"selection process" behind choosing the hat!!

Click on the picture to see
the other hats Asia tried on before finally deciding on the hat she
bought. One thing is for sure, you have to be extremely beautiful to
pull of wearing something like that!! RARR..baby...RARR!!! Just in case
you are wondering, Asia is the one that named those pictures "stoopid
hat"...not me!
Weekend
Goodness -Steve
Well, good news, bad news. Bad news...no cases yet. The good news... I
have a red hot VisionTek Radeon 9800Pro to put into the bad ass AMD
2600+, nForce2 system we have for the auction. You'll be able to get one
here before you can buy them in the stores...how cool is that.

04.04.03 -Steve
I have put together another auction system, so I have three at this time
ready to roll, with three more coming up soon. Once all are ready...I
will start the auction. Again, I apologize about the unexpected delay,
but the auction will be soon. Interested in any of these systems? Wanna
bid on them now before the auction? Drop
me a line before the auction, we'll talk.....if not, they
all go up on the auction block soon, open to the public.

April Fools
Days -Steve
The April Fools joke is on me this year, at least I feel like it is! The very last item to get here ( still
hasn't made it ) for our Auction for the Blind is the cases and
stuff...UGH...you have
to see the humor in that, since none of the systems can be assembled
without them. I have stuff spread out everywhere waiting for cases to
put them in...so we are crossing our fingers and hopefully we will have
them soon. The three ATi All-In-Wonder 9700Pro cards arrived today
though...sweet. Mmmmm.

And Voyeur
Mods has also stepped up to the plate and offered four of
their ass-kicking
Bay Reservoirs, check them out. These bad boys are not only
functional and fit in an unused 5.25" drive bay, they are also
pretty damn cool looking and add to the over all killer appearance of a
water cooled system.
