I could see the government forcing Facebook to be split into separate companies ala 2000 era Microsoft.
Today, Sheryl Sandberg sat before the Senate Intelligence Committee and promised that Facebook has recognized the problem, and is doing everything it can to prevent interference in US elections, though lawmakers are hinting at some form of regulation for the tech industry.
