I'm not going to get into the whole "we told you so," but damn, we told you so. 😔Unless EVERY car on the road is autonomous (no more human drivers), and pedestrians are removed from the equation (by using skywalks and barriers), self-driving cars are going to have major problems. The sad thing is that we aren't even talking about crashes caused mechanical failures or computer malfunctions...yet.
The Uber vehicle was reportedly headed northbound when a woman walking outside of the crosswalk was struck. The woman was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries. Tempe Police says the vehicle was in autonomous mode at the time of the crash and a vehicle operator was also behind the wheel.
