Hitachi Maxell's LED Lantern Powered by Water, Salt

This would be handy as hell to have around, especially if you lived by the ocean. Not so much if you lived in the desert like I do.

The lantern, "Mizusion," emits light because magnesium alloy, oxygen in the air and salt water function as a negative electrode, positive electrode and electrolyte, respectively, and generate electricity. The lantern can be stored for about 10 years. It is expected to be used as an emergency lamp at the time of disaster, power failure, etc as well as for leisure and outdoor activities.
